At right, a samurai grips a length of rope in one hand as raises an iron truncheon above his head to strike the commoner on the ground before him. His intended victim looks up at him with a wary frown, throwing his hand out in a defensive motion. A willow trees frames the night sky above. Nice expressive figures in an interesting setting.
