Fight between Sumo Wrestlers and Firemen, 1878 - Great kabuki scene of a fight between sumo wrestlers and firemen from a play based on an actual fight that took place at Shiba-daijingu Shrine in 1805. Here, the wrestler stands with his feet spread firmly apart, his hands thrown out at his sides as he leans forward. Below, a fireman raises a fire hook above hie head, gripping the handle with both hands. Debris is scattered on the ground, and other firemen can be seen on the rooftops above. An interesting subject, nicely detailed with fine line work on the firemen's quilted coats.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Partially backed with paper. Thinning at edge, a couple small holes, repaired. Small rubbed spot. Please see photos for details.
