Courtesan in a Peony Kimono Kakemono, 1862 - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of a courtesan in a kimono patterned with oversized peony blossoms over a red under robe, smiling happily as she looks over her shoulder. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with combs, floral hairpins, and a red ribbon, and she wears black lacquer geta clogs. This first time we've seen this Edo era beauty design.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 27 7/8" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. Horizontal folds. Hole, repaired. Creasing, staining on face and hair. Please see photos for details.
