Courtesan in a Peony Kimono Kakemono, 1862 - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of a courtesan in a kimono patterned with oversized peony blossoms over a red under robe, smiling happily as she looks over her shoulder. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with combs, floral hairpins, and a red ribbon, and she wears black lacquer geta clogs. This first time we've seen this Edo era beauty design.
