Emperor Leaving the Palace - Handsome depiction of the Meiji Emperor leaving the Imperial Palace in a royal carriage at center. Two drivers sit on a bench draped with a red cloth trimmed with fringe, holding the reins and a whip as the horses walk along. Another carriages follows behind with soldiers on horseback bringing up the rear carrying fluttering pennants. At lower right, one of the men watching the procession waves his hat as the Emperor passes by. The arched stone Nijubashi Bridge can be seen behind them, with the towers of the castle rising above the stone walls. A beautifully detailed design with attractive color and burnishing on the black uniforms.

Condition - This print with nice color and detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with somewhat stiff paper. Wrinkle at edge. Please see photos for details.
