Courtesans on a Spring Day, 1869

Comments - Charming scene of elegantly dressed courtesans in a room overlooking the water. In the center, a beauty and a young girl kneel beside a go board, the woman smiling happily as she chats with her companion, who stands in the garden. The standing woman wears a blue kimono shaded to lavender with a border of descending geese. A beauty at right holds a roll of paper, her robe decorated with toy balancing dolls, while the woman behind her paints a verse on a folding fan, a brush in hand. An attractive spring design with a blossoming cherry tree at left.

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Three separate panels. Paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. Vertical centerfolds. Slight separation at ends of fold, thinning spots, repaired, repaired. Light wrinkling. Please see photos for details.
