At left, the Lady-in-waiting Iwafuji scowls angrily as she looks over her shoulder, holding a small folding fan behind her head. Behind her, Hori Fusaji sneers as he looks to the side, his kimono a patchwork of patterned fabrics. In the center, the loyal maid Ohatsu grins happily as she carries a small document box tied with a tasseled cord. Pigeons fly overhead and peck at the ground below. From left, the actors are Sawamura Chojuro V, Matsumoto Koshiro VI, Bando Shuka I, Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Rai Kunitoshi, Onoe Kikujiro II as the beauty Oren, and Nakamura Utaemon IV as Ishidome Busuke. The center panel features An unusual design with expressive figures.
