Three Courtesans in the Yoshiwara

Comments - Beautiful image of three courtesans on an evening stroll through the Yoshiwara, dressed in their finest clothing. The courtesan at left wears a fantastic dragon kimono and a red obi with a fierce tiger. The woman in the center is Shigeoka from the Okamotoya on Kyo Street, wearing a kimono patterned with peonies and a red lion obi. The beauty at right is Hanamurasaki from the Tamaya on Edo Street, whose black kimono features masks including a horned demon and a white dog or fox. A bamboo fence behind them enclosed flowering shrubs with cherry blossoms framing the night sky above. A beautiful design, detailed with burnishing on the black areas of the kimono and the clogs.
