Yamashiro, Flowers of Kinkaku-ji, Princess Yuki, No. 30 - Beautiful depiction of the famous tale of Princess Yuki, who had been held captive and tied to a cherry tree in the gardens of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. She drew a mouse in the soft dirt with her toe, and it came to life and multiplied, chewing through the ropes and freeing her. A shower of flower petals falls over her as the mice scamper about her feet, Kancho Waterfall crashing in the background. The dragon peering over the top of the image taught Princess Yuki's father the secret of painting. Nice embossed detail on the white kimono collar and trim, with a dusting of mica over the top of the waterfall. A lovely scene.
