Comments - Handsome scene from the kabuki play "Soga Moyo Tateshi no Goshozome" of two beggars outside the doorway of a house. At left, the beauty Yadokari tilts her head with a sly smile as she holds a shamisen. Behind her, Setsuhei looks on with an angry grimace. Inside, Gosho Gorozo glares at the couple angrily, one hand resting atop a shakuhachi flute. At right, his wife Satsuki looks up while playing a kokyu. In the center, an alcove at the back of the room holds a hanging scroll above a low table with an ancestor tablet on it. From right, the actors are Onoe Kikujiro II, Ichikawa Kodanji IV, Onoe Eizaburo 4.5 (later Kawarazaki Kunitaro II), and Ichimura Uzaemon XIII. Nice detail in the interior setting.
