Comments - Beautiful triptych of the young samurai Ushiwakamaru, later known as Minamoto no Yoshitsune, serenading the Princess Joruri with his flute. According to the story, Ushiwakamaru came across her home while traveling, becoming entranced by the beautiful young maiden, and the pair fell in love. The princess stands inside the doorway, shyly holding her sleeve to her mouth, her beautiful kimono trailing onto the floor around her. The warrior pauses on the stepping stones in the garden, looking over his shoulder to admire the full moon softly glowing overhead, the flute in his hand. An attendant kneels beside him, showing him the way with a lantern. Detailed with faint embossing on the white kimono trim and soft bokashi shading in the sky. An attractive setting with handsome architectural detail in the palace and a lovely garden with a narrow stream beneath a yellow full moon.
