Comments - Handsome kabuki scene from the play "Soga Moyo Tateshi no Goshozome" at the Ichimura Theater. Standing on a dock surrounded by irises at left, the matron Yuri no Kata turns her head away with a grimace as the young samurai Saorinosuke holds up a lantern. He leans forward with a scowl, his chin tilted up defiantly. In the room behind him, an unfolded sutra tumbles off a low table with scrolls on it. At right, the beauty Nadeshiko watches from behind a brushwood garden fence beneath a blossoming cherry tree. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Kodanji IV, Ichimura Uzaemon XIII, and Onoe Eizaburo 4.5.
