Rest - Fantastic triptych depicting two beauties preparing for a night's rest. The woman at right lies across a bed, smiling at her companion and holding her kimono sleeve to her chin. An attendant kneels at left, adjusting the bedclothes behind a folding screen with a lamp in front of it. Behind her, a lacquer tray on the floor holds the beauty's robes worn during the day. Wonderful detail in the elegant fabrics and household furnishings, including embossing on the white kimono collars and trim. A striking composition with large colorful figures and rich, vivid color. An outstanding Chikanobu design.
