Comments - Charming portrait of a maiko or apprentice geisha from Kyoto. Shown in profile, her hair is softly pulled back into a large bun adorned with flowers and ribbons, and her deep rose kimono features white blossoms. An attractive painterly design by noted shin-hanga artist Yamamura Toyonari (Koka), one of just ten artists included in the landmark 1936 Toledo Museum of Art show "Modern Japanese Prints."
