His journey led him to produce many different series based on this often traveled and famous route. This charming edition published by Aritaya between 1843 - 1847 features classic scenes emphasizing the natural beauty of the landscape. These terrific original Hiroshige woodblocks offer another perspective of life along the Tokaido, with small figures of travelers set into handsome views of mountains, water, and countryside.
