Ketani Mondo Raising His Sword, 1875

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the samurai Ketani Mondo raising his sword above his head as he grimaces with rage at Kuriyama Daizen, who thrusts a helmet topped with a dragon at him. Below, the prostitute Oshu leans forward with a sober expression, while the two men on either side of the group exchange angry expressions. From left, the actors are Nakamura Shikan, Bando Hikosaburo, Onoe Kikugoro, Ichikawa Sadanji, Nakamura Shikan. A colorful design with expressive figures set off by a deep red background. Includes faint embossing on the white kimono.
