Otaki Stabbing Shojiki Seibei, 1857

Comments - Gory scene from the kabuki play "Katakiuchi Uwasa no Furuichi" of Otaki, the wife of Kyushichi, stabbing Shojiki Seibei, an awful grimace on her face. She plunges a knife into her victim's chest as she emerges from the foliage, Seibei falling backward into the leaves as blood spurts from the wound. Ichikawa Kodanji IV appears as both characters. A dramatic design.

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 9 1/4"
