Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a frightened courtesan cowering beneath her sleeve as a guest dances about, hopping on one foot as he plays a hand drum, a strange expression on his face. She wears a blue outer robe patterned with autumn grasses and leaves over a tie-dyed and print kimono and red under robe, her hair adorned with two tortoiseshell combs and many floral hairpins. The sash tied around her forehead indicates that she has been ill. A tobacco set and pipe case rest on the floor nearby, and an alcove at the back of the room holds a hanging scroll. An interesting design with a nicely detailed interior setting.
