Nakamura Nakayoshi I, 1865 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Nakamura Nakayoshi I from a series about the "Chushingura," the famous drama about the 47 ronin. Gripping his sword in one hand, he stares ahead with a worried frown, his eyebrows deeply furrowed. His black kimono hangs open at the chest, and short hair sticks up atop his head, the rest pulled into a topknot tied with a white cord. An expressive figure, nicely detailed with burnishing in the black kimono, fine line work in the hair, and bokashi shading in the night sky.

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Small holes and thinning spots, repaired. A few creases. Please see photos for details.
