Three Men in a House on the River

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of three men in a house overlooking the river, the samurai at right holding his hand back in a stopping motion as his companion in the center leans forward with a frown. One sleeve of his plaid kimono has been pushed down to the waist revealing a red under robe, a kimono on the floor behind him. The man at left, looks alarmed, crossing his eyes and gritting his teeth. His outer robe includes a bird in flight over the shoulder. A couple boats are visible on the water beneath the falling snow, the pines and shore beyond blanketed with snow. From left, the actors are Nakamura Shikan IV, Kawarazaki Gonjuro I, and Sawamura Tossho II. Nice expressive figures in a handsome setting.
