Unhappy Man with a Tobacco Set

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a man carrying a tobacco set in one hand and a book in the other, frowning unhappily as he looks at the two beauties at right. The kneeling woman looks up at his with a somewhat surprised expression, a pipe in her hand. The beauty behind her wears a white kimono patterned with plovers in flight above swirling water. A curtain patterned with chrysanthemums hangs in the doorway at upper right, and the room overlooks a garden with a stone lantern beneath a pine tree. Nice detail in the setting.
