Comments - The samurai at left, glares angrily as he looks over his shoulder, wearing a striking black outer kimono patterned with a dragon. The beauty at right eyes him suspiciously her lavender robe decorated with blossoms and butterflies. A tie-dyed curtain hangs in the doorway at upper right, and black lacquer fan boxes are stacked on a shelf nearby. A large fan hangs on the wall at left, and a folded fan can be seen atop a stump used as a low table at right. The actor at left is Ichikawa Danjuro. A colorful scene with a nicely detailed setting, including burnishing on the black kimono and obi, the black lacquer boxes, and the black lacquer trim of the wood panels.
