Comments - Handsome view of the Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo's procession to Kyoto at the founding of the Kamakura Shogunate. The ruler rides a dappled horse at center, seated on a black lacquer chair covered with a tiger skin. An attendant shelters him from the sun with a large red umbrella. Retainers wearing robes over armor surround him, some carrying fluttering banners and standards, others with covered weapons. A few noblemen ride horseback. The procession winds along the shore to the left and across a bridge in the distance. An impressive image with wonderful detail and a handsome natural setting.
