Comments - Handsome design from a group of limited edition woodblocks based on paintings by the Nihon-ga or Japanese-style painter Kobayashi Kokei. Published by Unsodo of Kyoto, each print is numbered 40/300 in the bottom margin, and comes with the original numbered certificate issued by the publisher. Kobayashi Kokei received Japan's Order of Culture in 1950 and Person of Cultural Merit 1951 in recognition for his outstanding contributions to art and culture. These charming designs feature simplified forms and have a painterly appearance resembling his original works. The first time we've seen woodblocks from this group.
