Ichikawa Sadanji I as Nago Rikimaru, 1870

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Sadanji I as Nago Rikimaru, who is part of a gang of thieves, in "Gosho ogi Soga no toshidama" at the Morita Theater. He looks to the side with an angry frown as he clutches a white cloth, his finely detailed kimono hanging open at the chest. His hair sticks out at the sides of his face, a few loose wisps giving him a slightly disheveled appearance. Behind him, a beauty looks through the wooden grill of a window at the crowded street. An expressive figure, nicely detailed.

Artist - Chikashige (active circa 1869 - 1882)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Vertical folds at sides. A few small repairs. Please see photos for details.
