The Akashi Bathhouse, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Attractive portrait of a beauty on the verandah of the Akashi Bathhouse. She wears an informal blue and white cotton robe patterned with Genji symbols and waterwheels, holding a fan decorated with bats. At upper left, steam rise from a deep bath in the room behind her. Wonderful detail in the architectural setting. A charming design.
