Silk Production

Comments - Interesting triptych showing Prince Genji watching beauties raising silkworms. He stands in the center, smiling as he looks over his shoulder at the woman at lower left, who uses a feather to transfer larva to a stack of trays. At top center, a beauty arrives with a horse carrying a load of mulberry leaves, which her companion at bottom center chops to feed the silkworms. The beauty at lower right removes cocoons from mulberry branches. Fields stretch into the distance behind the busy workers. A handsome design with an attractive setting. The first time we've seen this sericulture subject.
