Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a struggle taking place between two small shrines in the woods. At left, Kinkanzashi no Jinzo grabs the collar of a man who is accosting Saemon's daughter Omine, the attacker wrapping his arms around her legs as she pushes his head away. At right, Kiyari no Gonza watches with an evil grin as Mondo's daughter Osode cowers at his side, covering her mouth with her sleeve. The doors to the shrines are open, revealing wooden crates with writing on the sides. A pine tree frames the night sky above. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Ichizo III, Ichikawa Shinsha I, Nakamura Kanjaku I [?], Nakamura Fukusuke I, and Bando Tamasaburo II. A handsome design with an unusual and nicely detailed setting.
