Exhibition of Firemen - Interesting depiction of the New Year exhibition of firemen, a ceremony known as "Dezomeshiki." The members of the different fire brigades gather together in a procession designed to ensure fire safety for the New Year. Here, men perform acrobatic stunts called "hashigonori" atop a ladder carried by their fellow firemen. Each group is identified by a fringed brigade standard or matoi. The background is rendered in blue with buildings in white outlines with the peak of Mt. Fuji in the distance, and a lumberyard at left. A nicely detailed image of this annual tradition.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown
