A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Beauty with Begonia, 1878 - Handsome image of a beauty carrying an offering tray from a series pairing oversize flowers with Imperial court beauties. She smiles as she looks ahead, wearing fashionable two-tone lipstick and "moth's wing" eyebrows. Her hair is pulled back into a long ponytail bound with purple silk at the end and tied with a tasseled cord. Her kimono features an intricate geometric pattern, with a flash of a red under robe at the sleeves. Softly shaded pink begonia blossoms and deep green leaves create a striking backdrop against a brightly colored sky. An attractive design.
