Original Kaoru Kawano (1916 - 1965) Japanese Woodblock Print
Wreath

Kaoru Kawano - Kaoru Kawano's richly detailed prints feature simplified forms and layers of pattern in subtle colors to build a textured appearance. His use of the negative white of the paper creates a strong contrast against the backgrounds, producing a striking effect. Many of his designs incorporate the strong wood grain impression of the blocks. Favorite subjects include young girls and birds.
