The 47 Ronin, Act 1: Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine: The Helmet Inspection, 1857 - Handsome scene from Act 1 of "The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers" (Chushingura), the drama based on the true story of the 47 ronin. Lady Kaoya has come to Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine to identify a fallen samurai's helmet. While there, Lord Moronao makes unwanted advances towards her. Here, she kneels at the foot of the steps with a distraught expression, while her husband, Lord Hangan, fumes angrily at left. His friend, Lord Wakasanosuke, bows in front of Lord Moronao. Nice expressive figures in a beautifully detailed setting.
