Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Charming scene of a young beauty crossing the ocean on a reed, a fanciful update on the old legend that Daruma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, crossed the sea from India to China balanced on a reed. Her red and white garments are beautifully detailed and make a colorful contrast with the subdued light blue water and gray sky. A lovely reprint of this classic design.
