Series; Masterpieces of Modern Japan
Masterpieces of Modern Japan - Published by Tanseisha of Kyoto, the series "Masterpieces of Modern Japan" features woodblocks based on paintings by 20th century shin-hanga and modern artists. These beautiful, large format prints are rendered with exceptional attention to detail, capturing the nuances of calligraphic brushwork and lovely gradations of color. Each print was released in a limited edition, with numbers of impressions varying from 90 to 120 per design, althought the prints are not individually numbered. Images from this series are rarely seen outside Japan, and are a wonderful choice to collect or display.
Sunny Spring - Lyrical image of a bulbul perched on a blossoming cherry tree, its beak open in song. The branch is dotted with softly shaded pink and white blossoms, forming a lovely contrast to the deep red-brown leaves and muted gray sky. A dusting of white mica across the top of the image adds a subtle shimmer. A charming large format design, perfect for display.
This presentation - This print comes in a handsome presentation format as originally issued. The print is loose within a windowed paper mat that slides into a gray outer folder with the series title on it, accompanied by a text page in Japanese with a brief biography and commentary on the work.
