Bill’s Curated Selection Part II - I assembled this interesting and rare collection of Yoshitoshi over the last year. Yoshitoshi works are a personal favorite. I hope you enjoy shopping my collection as much as I enjoyed putting it together. – Bill

Takakuraya Sukeshichi, 1867 - Dramatic portrait of Takakuraya Sukeshichi standing atop an overturned palanquin with a bloody sword in his hand, his legs and arms covered with blood, including what looks like a bloody handprint on his left leg. He leans forward with a defiant grimace, a blue sash tied about his forehead and a blue cord knotted over his back, a geta clog on the ground nearby. A soft glow comes from the street lamp at left. A dynamic composition from this rarely seen early Yoshitoshi series.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8"
