Settsu, Moon over Suma, Murasame, Yukihira and Matsukaze, No. 5 - Beautiful evening scene of the young Prince Ariwara no Yukihira being entertained by the two daughters of a salt-maker. Sent into exile at the fishing village of Suma, he fell in love with both Murasame and Matsukaze. He sits on an overturned boat on the seashore, holding a cup of sake, one of the beauties kneeling at his feet and the other arriving with a tray of refreshments. A full moon shines overhead as a flock of birds flies across the night sky. The inset above shows a landscape view of the village. A handsome illustration from the Noh play "Matsukaze" (The Breeze through the Pines).
