Fuji Arts’ special acquisition from Momose - This print is from a beautiful group of limited edition prints recently acquired from the archives of the publisher, The Momose Print Company of Tokyo. We purchased the entire balance of the publisher’s limited-edition inventory of all designs. They are only available on the secondary market and have become increasingly difficult to find. The prints were originally offered in a shin-hanga limited edition promotion from Momose. The Shinsui and Kaburagi beauties were sold for 280,000 yen each (approx. $2,750).
Comments - Lovely shin-hanga image of a beauty watching a firefly in the evening sky, a fan in hand. She wears a light blue kimono patterned with blossoms and grasses, tied with a white obi with a floral design. The background is softly shaded and framed by autumn grasses at right. A beautiful, large format design. This print comes from a limited edition of woodblocks published by Momose based on an earlier painting by the artist. The edition was limited to 300, and comes with the original certificate noting the edition size, but the certificate does not have an individual number on it.
