Comments - Lovely triptych of the young Prince Genji enjoying an afternoon in a garden alongside a winding stream. He sits on a low platform covered with tatami mats, a folding fan in one hand and a brush in the other as he prepares to add a verse to it. He smiles happily at the kneeling beauty at left, who is examining a poem slip. At right, another woman approaches carrying an elegant black lacquer tobacco set. She wears an intricately patterned gray kimono tied with a floral print obi, her hair arranged in a smooth bun adorned with small clusters of flowers. The garden is filled with bush clover covered with yellow blossoms. A charming scene with wonderful color and detail, and fine bokashi shading on the sky.
