Comments - Charming kabuki scene of Kohagi, who is actually Princess Terute, at left pulling a length of yarn or thread from a container on the floor before her. She smiles up at her companion, Mancho's daughter, Okuma, who holds out a shallow blue and white porcelain bowl as she stands beside a pillar, one hand resting against the post. At right, Oguri Sotan looks up from an elegant black lacquer mirror on a chest, eying Okuma suspiciously as he dries his neck with a white cloth. Several combs can be seen in a compartment behind the mirror, and a white kimono patterned with blue wisteria hangs on a stand behind him. From left, the actors are Onoe Kikujiro II, Iwai Kumesaburo III, and Bando Takesaburo I. Nice expressive figures in a handsomely detailed interior setting.
