Evening Bell at Mii-dera Temple: Nakamura Utaemon IV as Sekibei - Handsome kabuki portrait of Nakamura Utaemon IV as the gatekeeper Sekibei from the famous kabuki play "Love at the Snow-covered Barrier Gate." He holds an oversize red lacquer sake cup, which reflects twinkling stars in the night sky overhead. He grimaces as he looks to the side, his other hand held to his chest. His robe features a bold pattern of white symbols against green and rust, a rust colored cloth wrapped around his head. His flared sideburns give him an interesting appearance. The landscape above shows Mii-dera Temple nestled on the side of a rugged mountain, with a village at the foot of the hill. A handsome, expressive figure with nice graphic appeal.
