The Maker of Court Caps

Series; A Set of Thirty-six Assorted Arts

The Maker of Court Caps - Interesting scene of a beauty showing a black court cap to a seated man. Her softly shaded kimono is bordered with embossed dots near the hem, tied with a geometric print obi. The man wears a delicately embossed robe, the fabric trailing on the floor around him. Another cap rests on the floor beside him. Nicely detailed with additional embossing on the obi and accents of metallic pigment that have oxidized to a dark tone, and a dusting of mica on the background. The first time we've seen this subject in reprint.

Artist - Hishikawa Sori (circa 1789 - 1818)

Image Size - 8 1/4" x 6 3/4"

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Paper mounts on reverse at top corners. Small repair, creasing. Please see photos for details.
