Courtesans in a Yoshiwara Teahouse, 1855

Comments - Lovely scene of courtesans at their leisure in a Yoshiwara teahouse. A beauty in the center holds a poem slip and brush in hand, an ink stone on the floor beside her, while her companion paints a folding fan. A young attendant sits nearby watching them, holding several branches covered with cherry blossoms. Wonderful detail in the architectural setting and elegant kimonos. A great look at life in the Yoshiwara.
