Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of the sumo wrestler Inagawa arguing with his wife beside a palanquin at night. At left, the beauty leans forward with an alarmed expression, anxiously biting on the edge of cloth she holds. Inagawa glares at her furiously as he pushes up the sleeve of his boldly pattern kimono. At right, Kitanoya Shichibei eyes the athlete suspiciously out of the corners of his eyes, flinging his hands out before him. From left, the actors are Otani Tomoemon V, Nakamura Shikan IV, and Sawamura Tossho II. A bold design with large expressive figures, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and soft shading on the background.
