Series; History Pictures (Rekishi-e), 1896

Emperor Yuryaku Hunting Wild Boar at Mt. Katsuragi - Fantastic scene of the fifth-century Emperor Yuryaku overpowering a wild board at Mt. Katsuragi. He knocks the animal on its side with the end of his bow, stepping on its throat as it squeals and thrashes on the ground. A gust of wind sweeps across the landscape, fluttering the emperor's robe and knocking his attendant to the ground, maple leaves scattering through the air. A great design with wonderful detail.
