Horse: Akechi Mitsuhide Crosses Omi Lake - Terrific image of the great warrior Akechi Mitsuhide escaping after his defeat at the Battle of Yamazaki by Hideyoshi's forces. His is shown riding his horse across Lake Biwa in Omi Province, gripping a bamboo crop in his outstretched hand as the animal swims through the deep water. The famous Pine Tree at Karasaki can be seen ahead, the ancient branches propped up on silts. Beautiful color and shading in this handsome design.
