Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of two commoners arguing in a doorway. Standing outside the door at left, Kozaru Shichinosuke grips the obi of the maid Tatsukawa as he leans forward, his mouth agape in an angry grimace. One sleeve of his black kimono has been pushed down to the waist, revealing a small pouch strung across his chest. The beauty turns her face away, hiding behind her kimono sleeve. Inside the house, Yoshisaburo looks at his visitor with aa frown. Another woman sits behind him, grinning slyly as she tugs on the collar of her robe. From left, the actors are Onoe Kikugoro IV, Ichikawa Kodanji IV, Kawarazaki Gonjuro I, and Iwai Kumesaburo III. A great design with expressive figures and a handsomely detailed setting.
