Nakamura Fukusuke II, from Kamigata, as Izutsu Jonosuke, 1861

Comments - Great kabuki portrait from the play "Sakura Soshi Gonichi Bundan" at the Morita Theater of Nakamura Fukusuke II as the samurai Izutsu Jonosuke, staring over his shoulder with an angry grimace as he holds an umbrella high as raindrops fall. He wears a vest over a kimono, both beautifully patterned with autumn grasses and leaves, and a red under robe with a light green collar. His hair is tied into an upright ponytail, tightly wrapped with yellow cord. A handsome design with graphic impact, with a dusting of mica across the top of the night sky.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 10" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. A couple tiny repairs, small indented mark on face, light spotting on umbrella. Please see photos for details.
