Confrontation in a Courtyard

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a confrontation taking place in a courtyard outside a house. The man in the center frowns unhappily as he holds out a folding fan, the loose hairs framing his face giving him a disheveled appearance. At right, an older man with graying hair glares back at him, while the beauty beside him looks up with a sly smile, a drum in hand. At lower left, a young samurai reacts with alarm, throwing his hands out at his side, his sleeves tied back with a sash. Blossoming cherry trees frame the deep red sky. Nice expressive figures, detailed with burnishing on the drum and the beauty's black obi and collar.
