Yosaburo - Handsome kabuki portrait of an actor in the role of Yosaburo, a young man who turns to a life of petty crime after the sudden end of his love affair. His face and body are scarred from wounds inflicted when he was caught in a tryst with the mistress of a gang boss. He is shown here with a sober expression on his face as he looks to the side, clutching a handful of money. He wears a blue plaid kimono trimmed with black and white checks, a dotted towel draped over his shoulder. A sensitive portrait of this tragic hero, with fine line work on the robe and hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/3" x 9 1/4

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small holes, repaired. A couple stains on face, light diagonal and vertical creases. Please see photos for details.
