Entertainers from Setchu in the Snow, circa 1811 - 1818 - Lovely early Edo print depicting two beauties standing on a dock waiting for a boat, sharing an umbrella in the falling snow. They wear tall wooden geta clogs that leave distinctive footprints in the snow. The man beside them carries a parcel covered with green cloth over his shoulder. Boats can be seen in the distance with a bridge and lumber yard on the horizon, the view framed by a willow tree at right. A charming winter scene.
