Chinese Nobleman - Interesting woodblock portrait of a Chinese nobleman, done in a style resembling an ink stone rubbing. Popular in China for more than a thousand years, ink stone rubbings were made by pressing a thin sheet of wet paper against an inscription cut in stone and inking it, leaving a white impression of the carved characters against a black ground. This woodblock interpretation features embossing on the lines of the figure, with text above. An unusual, large format design.
